Detoxing

I am just convinced that detoxing (healthily) is the way to go for helping reach goal weights. I've tried all sorts of eating for becoming a healthier person over the past 11 years. I've been the most delighted with the delicious foods that are detoxifying. Detoxing and fasting are the winning combination for my body.

11 years ago, I gave myself 13 years to reach my goal weight. That would put me at having the healthy body that I desired by the age of 40. I remember walking on the treadmill, at the gym in Lawton, Oklahoma, after Alafair was born. I kept hearing people say that I needed a date to work towards for my health goals. It's supposed to keep people on track.

Setting a close date seemed pretty overwhelming. My body was broken and in constant pain. I knew I would need longer than even a few years. I was going to have to learn my body and teach myself what methods worked the best for me.

First, I focused on dieting and denying myself. "Myself" threw a hissy-fit about that. So, to trick myself, any time that I wanted something sweet and unhealthy for me, I would first quickly eat something very healthy for me--even if I didn't have the taste for it. My way of thinking was that if I started associating those great feelings from the taste of junk food with the goodness of healthy food, then my mind and body would start craving healthy food. It worked, too.

Beachbody and Shakeology, then progressing toward Garden of Life organic protein shakes were helpful as well. However, by the age of 33 I discovered that I had a pretty tricky autoimmune disease called hEDS. Severe anxiety and depression were on a constant cycle through my system, and this autoimmune disease did not respond well to intense exercise. Actually, it didn't respond well to anytime that I worked my muscles to the point of a painful recovery.

I've had to learn to put nutrition, in particular nutrition that also detoxes me, above everything else. Then, I could add very gentle and restorative exercises to my health routine. Two years ago, I started combining fasting with detoxing. Though there was an adjustment period to fasting, my body soon grew to crave it.

I have found yummy ways to detox. In particular, detoxing my liver and supporting it has been a delicious addition to my life. I've been drinking Manuka honey with turmeric lattes. That, as well as other healthy adjustments and gentle activity, has helped me to shed about 20 pounds.
