Jolts of Joy

Following my previous post: I wanted to discuss creating states of emotional balance when going through the ups and downs of life. Years ago, when I attended the International School of Clairvoyance, I was taught how to raise my vibrations.

People often say to think positively, but just thinking positively isn't enough to actually create joy. People have to feel positively. It's a good practice to create a long list of things that create a sense of something good inside.

I have tended to feel the goodness in my solar plexus– above my navel. I found that I benefit from my list taking at least a minute to recite. I repeat the list as much as needed for the efficacious physical reactions. That's what has combated the negativity.

After visiting my family when my cousin died, my emotions were obviously heavy. I didn't think about going through my list of items that made me feel joyful. There's a time and a place for that, and the grieving process must happen rather than be passed by. When emotions aren't processed, they get stuck in the body as all sorts of discomforts.

However, the weekend after my cousin's death, I went to Louisiana for my 20th year high school reunion. I saw many people from my youth, and that made me smile frequently. For three days, it was a series of consecutive little highs from smiling and seeing people I hadn't seen in a long time.

On my flight home from Lousiana, I was able to sit and think about how nice those little jolts of joy were. They brought a little more balance to my emotions from the week before.
