Reducing Inflammation
"Inflammation" seems to be a common word that's used to explain pain in the body. I think "arthritis" used to be the go-to word that doctors used when they couldn't figure out what was happening with a person. I've been told that I have arthritis and I've been told that I don't have arthritis.
I think that I automatically tune out doctors that try to discuss arthritis with me. My dad, and lots of people on his side of the family, were told that their pain was due to arthritis. I think it gave them an excuse to just allow themselves to continue being unhealthy.
One doctor that I went to was a physiatrist, and he dealt with figuring out how to alleviate the systemic pain I felt. He put me on a medication that reduced inflammation. The medication did work to reduce the constant pain that I could feel deep inside of my muscles, and that's how I started to gain an understanding of what it meant to have inflammation.
I could not continue with that medication because it made me exhausted. However, at the same time that I stopped taking that medicine I started taking Manuka honey, with an 800 methylglyoxal rating, and drank a turmeric latte daily. Both of those did a wonderful job in reducing inflammation in my muscles. It produced the same effect as the medicine, and I finally felt like I was in the recovery stage of working out instead of the constant pain of growing new muscles.
There are many other things that I do to reduce inflammation in my body. I try to keep a calm nervous system and balanced strength. That Manuka honey, though, in combination with the turmeric latte, has been the most reliable form of help. If you have that sensation in your muscles that you would get a few days after a workout, and it won't go away, you might like learning about how to reduce inflammation, too.
