Tissue Issues

The following is an excerpt from Denise LaBarre's book, "Issues in Your Tissues: Heal Body and Emotion from the Inside Out":

If you have experienced unexplained back pain or fibromyalgia, or chronic fatigue syndrome, or another set of symptoms that a doctor could not easily diagnose, from my point of view, you are in luck. Not because these are pleasant things to go through, but because your body and spirit are working so hard to teach you certain lessons. Complex and multi-level illnesses force you on a healing journey. If you persevere to learn these lessons, you are likely to reap huge rewards of insight and personal growth... . So many childhood experiences serve to show us who we are not, thus teaching by contrast. It seems to be the work of adulthood to find out and come to terms with who we really are, then live from our authentic selves.

I really enjoyed reading that above excerpt. For people who haven't come to terms with what happened to them during childhood, this offers reasoning for why things might have happened or might be happening. I was reading a book about Soul Circles once, and it said that before we are born, we agree with God about the people who will be part of lives once we are born.

The strongest souls take the roles of living out the most tragic lives, because they serve as a guiding example for how the most undeveloped spirits are supposed to grow. Those souls, too, must grow from the lessons they chose to endure. Thinking about life and illnesses in this way helps me to avoid victim mentality and it helps me to believe that God did intend for life to be a gift.
